Temperature

Warm!! You must understand that it never gets HOT in our part of WA state. Maybe 75, seldom 80 and into the 50s at night. I am now in upstate NY and love the temp. I'm sure if I had to put up with it all of the time, I would not care for it. But for 2 weeks, I'm loving it. We've done a flee market, not much there this time. We've gone to Red Robin for some luscious burgers! And, let's not forget Wal-Mart. I'll write again when I get a chance.

Off for a visit

Hey all, I'm off for a visit to my Mom. We lost Dad just before Thanksgiving last year, and this is the 2ND time I'll be returning from WA to NY. Will be gone until the 23rd. Although, I may get access to a computer once in a while, for sure I'll tell you about my trip when I return.

Sculpting

Well, today I sculpted. I covered my armatures (frame) with tape to make them less slippery, then wrapped with polyester batting, then with wool batting. And now I'm sculpting.

Somewhere I read the tip to brush out long or curly roving before trying to attach. So that is next. The person who gave the hint then started at the top middle. I'm going to start near the bottom, that way I can see where I'm working. Check back and I'll let you know how this all works.

Trying Photos

One of theses days, I'll figure out how to add more than one picture. I do suppose it would go faster if I asked Karrie, but I should be able to figure out some things. Leema is one of the Original MiniKins. About 4 inches tall and maybe 3 long. Cute! At least those who have seen her think so.

Wonderful!!!!!

I love it, this Blog seems to work perfectly. Thanks Karrie!!!!

Wire armature

It's wonderful here today. The sun is shining, the sky is blue, and it is warm enough to put on a short sleeve tee. Only happens a few times a year in Port Ludlow!

I'm about to create the wire image of a Spirit Bear. I was so moved when I saw the picture on the cover of National Geographic for Aug. 2011. I told Faith Siple (A wonderful supplier of some of my wool) and within days, she had found wool from an Icelandic sheep, that looks exactly like the bear. Now, Spirit Bears roam part of British Columbia and are protected by the First Nation, who have never hunted them. They are white, black bears. Not albinos, but a recessive gene in Black Bears. We both shivered!! I' take some pictures as I go along, and add to this blog. I'm going to try some polyester stuffing to fill out some of the Bear's insides, as suggested by another friend Barbara Emerson who is off fishing, at the moment.
